Plex - Desktop

What to use

I advise to use the dedicated app from official plex.tv or you can keep using web app (but some videos might not be able to play at full resolution)

Desktop App

Make sure to click Plex and not "Plex Media Server" (There is also Plexamp for music there if you listen to music)

Important settings

Quality

On "Internet Streaming" section set Video quality to "Maximum" and enable "Play smaller videos at original quality" Quality

Reminder if you switch from web app to desktop or vice/versa the settings are not kept.

Account

Here you can setup your default for video (you can always override per video), setup your preferred audio, and your preferred subtitles.

(If your preferred is not available it goes to English and if that is not available it's first in the list, which could be random) Account

"Sync my watchstate and ratings" is only relevant if you have access to more then one library.

(if you watch Show A on Server A, then it will be seen as watched also on Server B)

Online Media Sources

I recommend turning it all off, this is services offered by Plex which are kind of awkward to use.

Best one out of these that do not interfer is "Live TV", where you can watch your regions TV but it's also weird offerings.

But then again some are showing which other platforms you can watch movies on as well, so you might prefer that. Discovery

How to get to settings

On the top right of the Web/App there is small wrench, click that How to get to settings
